Lace & Grit began with a simple idea: to create beautiful things that feel as though they have a story to tell. What started as a creative passion inspired by nature, history, art, and collected interiors has grown into something far richer than I first imagined.

Today, Lace & Grit is home to distinctive collections of artistic journals, decorative pillows, woven textiles, glass art, wall décor, and meaningful gifts inspired by the natural world, historic archives, old-world craftsmanship, and the fascinating objects and creatures that continue to capture our curiosity.

I have always believed that the most memorable homes aren't simply decorated—they are collected. They hold pieces that make us stop, look closer, remember something, or wonder about the story behind them. That idea has become the heart of Lace & Grit.

Every Lace & Grit collection begins with a story.

Sometimes it begins with an antique botanical illustration or an old herbal reference. Other times it might be a shorebird standing in a coastal marsh, a woodland animal found in the pages of a naturalist's field journal, an endangered species whose story deserves to be remembered, or an intriguing object that looks as though it belongs inside a Victorian cabinet of curiosities.

From there, research, imagination, artwork, color, texture, and historical details come together to create something new while retaining the character of something collected over time.

Rather than chasing short-lived trends, I want Lace & Grit pieces to feel at home among the things you already love—the old books, inherited treasures, favorite artwork, interesting finds, and meaningful objects that make your home unmistakably yours.

This is where much of Lace & Grit happens—researching an idea, developing artwork, writing a story, building a new collection, answering customers, or disappearing down an unexpected historical rabbit hole because one interesting detail inevitably leads to another.

Every collection begins here, from the earliest concept and artistic direction through the finished designs you see in the shop. I work with carefully selected production partners who bring those designs to life on the products I've chosen, allowing me to concentrate on the creative work, collection development, and customer experience that make Lace & Grit uniquely ours.

The Lace & Grit Journal gives me a place to go beyond the products and explore the stories, history, natural wonders, decorating ideas, collections, and curiosities that inspire the brand. It is also the gateway to the Lace & Grit Magazine, created for readers who want to continue that journey with us.

And through At Home With Roxie, I share life beyond the studio—my home, kitchen, recipes, projects, stories, and the creative adventures that seem to find their way into everyday life.

What began as a shop has gradually become a collection of stories, places, ideas, and creative work that all feel very much like different rooms in the same house.

And sometimes a customer simply sees a fox, flower, sea turtle, antique microscope, or mysterious old key and thinks, that belongs in my house.
